0.2 and 0.3: the foundations
Version 0.2 added Johnny’s Store, where you spend YTPs (You Thought Points) on items or on filling in your map. It also brought the Gravity Chaos event, in which characters who aren’t upside down like you can’t interact with you, and the return of 1st Prize.
Version 0.3, the “Speed Up-date”, made the whole game faster. Baldi’s speed became separate from his slap rate, each level got its own speed curve, and Baldi now reaches the level’s maximum speed once every notebook is collected. Notebook counts became fixed at 4, 7 and 9 for the three levels of the time. The 0.3.x patches that followed ran until late 2022.
0.4 to 0.7: a new kind of school
Version 0.4 introduced Dr. Reflex and his reflex test, and changed how sound works: instead of passing through everything, it now wraps around walls. Rooms became hand-designed pieces placed by the generator, and the map gained color coding and room icons.
Version 0.5 added the ’Nana Peel, which sends anyone who steps on it sliding, and YTP pickups that add points immediately.
Version 0.6 created the Pitstop, the rest area between levels with Johnny’s Store in 3D, a storage locker for three items and Save & Quit. Johnny also started offering a loan once per game, and Diet BSODA arrived.
Version 0.7 brought field trips back as explorable areas with two camping minigames, Campfire Frenzy and Pick-Quick-Nic. The bus in the Pitstop before level 3 requires a Bus Pass found on level 2.
0.8 to 0.10: the run takes shape
Version 0.8 added play styles (Normal, Arcade and Strict), time limits of 5, 7 and 9 minutes for the first three levels, vents on level 3 and the rule that the darkest cells hide you from characters.
Version 0.9 added the interactive tutorial, a dedicated Hide & Seek menu with play style, challenge options and seed input, and moved Explorer mode into the play styles.
Version 0.10 was the biggest expansion yet: levels 4 and 5, with seven and nine notebooks, and three new level types, Maintenance, Factory and Laboratory. It also added locked rooms, students with lost items, the rename of Big Ol’ Boots to Techno Boots and a reworked Test that slows time when you look at it.
0.11 to 0.13: modes and stickers
Version 0.11 rebuilt Endless mode with a level select menu for type and size, added a 250 YTP restock button to Johnny’s Store and introduced the Super Stretchy Glove and the Invisibility Elixir.
Version 0.12 added two activities, Balloon Buster and Match Machine, and two events, Balder Dash and Student Shuffle. Stamina boosts moved from notebooks to completed activities.
Version 0.13 introduced stickers: packs bought in Johnny’s Store, applied to the back of the You Can Think Pad, up to four at once. The grade system and its bonuses were removed, and students began paying 100 YTPs for lost items.
0.14: the current version
Version 0.14 added a button inside every elevator that you press to finish a level, a chalkboard in the Pitstop that shows the next level type, exterior classroom signs with the new neon BONUS sign, water fountains in all level 1 classrooms and a Match Machine that needs three matches instead of four.
The patches that followed refined it:
- 0.14.1 replaced the Factory’s conveyor belt room with a crane room.
- 0.14.2 saved control maps per save file, which reset old bindings.
- 0.14.3 reworked Student Shuffle into one long line, added curtain doors for event characters, made quitting from the pause menu in the Pitstop save the game and changed Techno Boots to resist only opposing forces.
- 0.14.4 and 0.14.5 fixed bugs, including a few serious ones introduced in 0.14.4.
What comes next
The developer has called 0.14 the last scheduled major Early Access update; later ones may still come, but only sporadically. According to the August 2026 status update, work on 1.0 is on schedule, including its secret content, and no release date has been announced yet. The Steam page lists secret levels, achievements, more horror elements, adaptive music and story elements among the features still planned.
This page reflects the devlogs up to version 0.14.5 and the August 2026 status update. We add new versions when they are released.
