Johnny’s Store & YTPs
You Thought Points are the currency of Baldi’s Basics Plus, and Johnny’s Store is where you spend them. A run with a healthy YTP balance arrives at the last levels with full pockets; a run without one arrives with whatever it found on the floor. This guide covers every way to earn YTPs, everything the store offers and how to spend wisely over a full run.
Where the store is
Johnny’s Store is in the Pitstop, the rest area you visit between levels and after losing a life. Since version 0.6 it is a 3D room you walk through, with Johnny behind the counter. Hover over an item to see its description before you buy. The store can also turn up inside a level: the Cash Register sticker makes Johnny’s Store generate on the level itself, and in Endless mode the store is open from the start.
What you can buy
| Product | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Items | A selection that changes, from BSODA and Safety Scissors to rarer tools |
| A map | Fills in the map of the next level, so you see the layout from the start |
| Sticker packs | Stickers for the back of your You Can Think Pad, each with its own bonus |
| Glue Stick | Makes a sticker slot extra sticky, so its sticker lasts the whole run |
| Restock | For 250 YTPs, replaces the items in every available slot with a new selection |
Items sometimes go on sale at a random discount, so check the shelves each time you pass through the Pitstop.
Johnny’s loan
Once per game, Johnny will cover the rest of an item’s price if you are 100 YTPs or less short. It is a one-time favor, so save it for an item that really matters, such as a strong defensive item before level 4 or 5, rather than using it on level 1 just because you can.
How to earn YTPs
| Source | Reward | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| YTP pickups | 25, 50 or 100 | Look like items but add points immediately |
| Students | 100 for a returned lost item | The reward grows with each student you help in a round |
| Bonus questions | Extra YTPs | Look for the neon BONUS sign under a classroom sign |
| Match Machine | YTPs per correct pair | Every match also gives stamina |
| Mrs. Pomp | Depends on how fast you reach her class | The quicker you arrive, the more you get |
| Dr. Reflex | Some YTPs for passing his test | Failing only costs time |
| Field trips | 250 bonus for a perfect game | Diamond YTPs worth 250 each can be collected after winning |
| Stickers | Bonuses at the end of a level | The YTP Multiplier adds 25% to what you earn |
Students are one of the best sources on every level. Each student causes a lost item to appear elsewhere in the school. Pick it up, bring it back and collect the reward, which rises with every student you help.
A spending plan for a run
| Pitstop | Priority |
|---|---|
| Before level 2 | A sticker pack if you can afford one; long-lasting bonuses pay off most when bought early |
| Before level 3 | The field trip comes first, then top up with an item for a 9-notebook school |
| Before level 4 | Check the chalkboard and buy for the level type; consider the map |
| Before level 5 | Spend everything. YTPs left at the end of the run don’t help you |
The general rule is to earn on the easy levels and spend on the hard ones. Level 1 is small and Baldi is slow, so every BONUS question and student there is cheap to collect. By level 5 you want the money to turn into items.
Is the map worth it?
The map shows the full layout of the next level from the moment you arrive. On a school level you can usually explore safely enough without it. On a Factory or Laboratory level, where routes depend on doors, belts and teleporters, knowing the layout in advance saves a lot of wandering. If you are short on YTPs, buy the map for the special levels and skip it for the school.
Restocking
The 250 YTP restock replaces every available item with a new selection. It is expensive, so use it only when the shelves have nothing you need and you have YTPs to spare, for example before level 5 when you are looking for one specific item.
Losing a life sends you back to the Pitstop with your inventory reset to the start of the level. Plan purchases so a lost attempt doesn’t wipe out a big shopping trip, and keep key items in the storage locker.
FAQ
What happened to the grade bonus?
The time and grade bonuses were removed in version 0.13 and replaced by sticker bonuses. Some stickers now give YTPs at the end of a level.
Can I use items in the Pitstop?
No. Since version 0.7 items can’t be used there, so buy them for the next level.
How do I get Diamond YTPs?
They appear after you win a field trip minigame, and each one is worth 250 YTPs.
