Baldi
Baldi is the teacher you play hide and seek with, and the only character in Baldi’s Basics Plus who can end your attempt on a level.
Baldi is the one who ends the run, but he is far from the only person in the school. Thirteen characters roam the halls of Baldi’s Basics Plus, and most of them cost you time, items or stamina at the worst possible moment. Learn who does what, and the rest of the school becomes much easier to read.
Baldi is the teacher you play hide and seek with, and the only character in Baldi’s Basics Plus who can end your attempt on a level.
| Character | What they do | Threat |
|---|---|---|
| Baldi | Hunts you by sound and sight and gets faster with every notebook | Ends the attempt |
| Principal of the Thing | Sends you to detention when he sees you break a school rule | Costs time and draws Baldi |
| Playtime | Chases you and makes you play jump rope before you can move on | Stops you |
| It’s a Bully | Blocks a hallway and takes a random item to let you pass | Takes items |
| Gotta Sweep | Leaves his closet from time to time and sweeps everyone in his way down the halls | Pushes you around |
| 1st Prize | A robot that turns to face you and pushes you down the hallway | Pushes you around |
| Arts and Crafters | Once all notebooks are collected, charges you if you hold eye contact and teleports you | Moves you away from the exit |
| Beans | Spits gum that sticks to whoever it hits and slows them down | Slows you |
| Chalkles | Appears on a classroom chalkboard; linger too long and he locks the room | Traps you |
| Cloudy Copter | Stops in a hallway and blows a strong wind along it | Slows or pushes you |
| Dr. Reflex | Gives you a reflex test; walk away mid-test and he hunts you with a hammer | Costs time |
| Mrs. Pomp | Calls you to her class and can drag you there; arrive quickly for YTPs | Costs time |
| The Test | Slows time while you look at it and speeds it up if you stare too long | Changes the pace of the level |
Each character notices you in a different way, and that decides how you deal with them. Baldi reacts to both: every door, locker and wrong answer is a sound he goes to check, and if he sees you, he comes straight at you. The Principal only cares about what he sees, so a sprint where he can’t see you is safe. Arts and Crafters and The Test are about where you look: holding your gaze on them is exactly what triggers them, so glance, then look away.
Not every encounter is bad news. Some characters can be turned against the others:
| Problem | What helps |
|---|---|
| Playtime’s jump rope | Safety Scissors cut the rope |
| 1st Prize pushing you | Safety Scissors on his wires slow him down for a while |
| Beans’ gum | Safety Scissors cut it off |
| It’s a Bully in the way | The Faculty Nametag lets you pass without giving up an item |
| Wind and pushes | Techno Boots resist outside pushes |
| Baldi closing in | BSODA, Baldi’s Least Favorite Tape or An Apple for Baldi |
Safety Scissors deal with three different characters, which makes them one of the most useful items to keep for the later levels.
If you played Baldi’s Basics Classic, you already know Baldi, the Principal, Playtime, It’s a Bully, Gotta Sweep, 1st Prize and Arts and Crafters. In Plus they live in a different school: levels are generated anew, the notebooks are guarded by classroom activities, and you leave through elevators instead of exits. Several of them also behave differently. Arts and Crafters, for example, teleports you to a random place instead of sending you and Baldi back to the start. Beans, Chalkles, Cloudy Copter, Dr. Reflex, Mrs. Pomp and The Test are not in Classic at all.
